[UPDATE]:
Guy Adams released from Twitter jail.
——————————————————————–
NBC filed a complaint with Twitter against British reporter Guy Adams over the following, prompting Twitter to suspend his account:
Well done, NBC. Now the ensuing controversy over Adams’ Twitter suspension has sent Gary Zenkel’s work e-mail address to thousands if not tens of thousands more people than Adams’ original Tweet. You guys really don’t know how the internet works, do you?
This just explains so much. This explains the utter failure of their broadcast, their “man on the street” coverage, or why it’s impossible to access anything on their livestreaming unless you first “login with your TV provider credentials.” In other words, you have to have cable or satellite service and you must give NBC your account number. Doesn’t capitalism RAWK!
This has been an utter fiasco. And honestly, I’m at the point where I say, fuck’em. Fuck the Olympics. I could give a crap. Trying to wrench every last ounce of ad revenue from an international sporting event that’s supposed to be all kumbaya has just ruined the experience. I could give a fuck.
NBC can DIAF for all I care.

I normally dislike boycotts but in this case, one against the sponsors might make a difference. The top people at NBC Sports ought to be used as archery targets during the games.
I think to successfully boycott the sponsors of the Olympics one would have to go off the grid and live in a yurt.
I’d like to see a nomad from Ulaanbaatar win the Dressage.
I say Fuck the olympics 2012 to watch online you must login with your TV provider credentials. what if you dont know your TV provider credentials.
this is bull shit & its the same thing you get if you want to watch a show on trutv.com login with your TV provider credentials.
is this what we have come to.
“TV provider credentials? We don’t NEED no stinking TV provider credentials!”
Some hacker is going to figure out a way around this before the games are over. Just you wait.
Stupid corporations. Trying to bail out the sinking ocean liner with a fucking thimble.
SB,
“TV provider credentials? We don’t NEED no stinking TV provider credentials!”
Brava!! Brava!!
Randy,
“I’d like to see a nomad from Ulaanbaatar win the Dressage.”
Heh!!
Any respectable descendant of Genghis Khan would laugh at Dressage. Mounted archery, on the other hand, would make a great Olympic Sport. After all, in the Winter Olympics we have ‘Modern Biathlon’ which is pretty much the NRA {Norwegian Rifle Association} sending people to the 7-11 for beer. Mounted archery would be faster and require more skill and be infinitely more fun to watch.
Agree. Mounted riflery would be a good sport too.
I don’t understand why skeet shooting is considered an athletic sport. Unless the skeet are shooting back at you, that is. I get that there’s hand-eye coordination and I get that it’s a fun thing that people like to do, but I don’t get where the athleticism is involved. If any old lardass can do it off their back porch, then that ain’t a sport. Pop that person on a horse, and it makes it a little more sporting, to me.
But what do I know.
Don’t be so hard on Olympic skeet shooting. A boy from Eatonton, GA, right down the road from my hometown, won the gold.
The best news I have heard from the Olympics. I am prouder of this than 100 gold medals.
American athletes lead revolt against IOC ban on social media use to promote sponsors

Wow this will make my Good News Friday round-up for sure…. or it would, if it were over some real free speech thing. Promoting their sponsors? Meh. Let ‘em buy a fucking ad.
I’m disturbed at all of these athletes who have been expelled for Tweets that have been construed as racist but clearly are not.
SB,
I agree about the expulsions. I hope that there will be some thoughtful coverage of the issue during the Olympics. Most people do not realize that in some nations, and Europe is becoming the poster child for this, there are civil and criminal laws against what is classified as ‘hate speech.’ For example, things that American comedians and artists take for granted are illegal across the EU.
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA…
No there will be no thoughtful coverage. It’s move along and CLAP LOUDER for the Cheerio’s sponsored swimmer who won a gold.
The plot thickens. Twitter is the one who notified NBC of the tweets along with detailed instructions on how to file a complaint.
Oh wow, where did you read that?
Boycott Twitter!!
I don’t recall exactly where I saw it (though I’m certain it was on one of the big tech blogs. but here’s a Time magazine article about it: http://entertainment.time.com/2012/08/01/when-twitter-becomes-the-tweet-police/
