Strange Bedfellows, TN Gun Loons Edition

The local news is all abuzz about the Franklin City Alderman who actually wants to loosen gun laws and allow CCW permit holders to bring their weapons into City Hall and other municipal buildings. (For my non-Nashville readers, Franklin is a city just south of Nashville.) Meet Alderman Dana McLendon:

McLendon said there should be more people with guns everywhere.

I beg to differ. But, whatever.

Dana McLendon was last in the news about, oh, three days ago, when he appeared in BFF James Yeaeger’s apology video as his attorney. That’s right, the Tennessee gun loon who garnered us national embarrassment attention for his “I’m gonna start blowing shit up because of Obama” YouTube rant is represented by Dana McLendon.

McLendon is apparently working hard to get Yeager’s gun permit reinstated. What’s weird to me is that none of the news reports I’ve seen regarding McLendon’s pro-gun advocacy as a Franklin Alderman have connected the dots to his infamous “I’m going to start shooting people” client James Yeager. I wonder why that is?

It could be that no one wants to see if Yeager was serious. Think about it. Do you want to get shot?

  2. Interesting post. Too many nut jobs running amok.

A state rep in NH carries TWO guns at all times when he’s in the Concord State House. He dropped one of them last year:

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/20/kyle-tasker-new-hampshire-legislator-gun_n_1367695.html

His excuse for dropping his gun was that he gave blood and the process left him “loopy”. Not too, “loopy”, apparently, to interfere with driving a car, carrying TWO guns and attending a meeting on the state’s regressive abortion law.

  4. …Because that would be a ‘hit piece’, or ‘gotcha journalism’, etc. etc. etc.

The problem is that Haslam and his lunatic fringe in the Legislature are so fricking scared of the NRA and the gun lobby, that they do not DARE open their mouths about anything, any sentence that includes the word…”GUN”. NOT one word was spoken to censure crazy Rep. Curry Todd, the author of the ‘Guns in Bars’ bill…after the fool was caught driving drunk with his loaded gun in his pick up. Nor did they bother to say anything negative about Rep David Hawk, from Greene County…when he abused his wife with a gun as she held their baby. The DesJarlais mess…well, that was just too long ago!
And on a related, but even more idiotic topic: Have you guys seen the article on line about the website that actually sells guns to KIDS…as young as 10, those who are smart enough to find the site and have unlimited money ? I wish I had written down the site, etc. But apparently it had been verified as true. Gun makers selling real guns to children. Sick.

Hey I know! Let’s make special entrances at the courthouses and public buildings just for CCW holders so that they won’t have to go through the metal detector line with the rest of us peons. That way they won’t blow their cover in front of the bad guys and we’ll all be a lot safer. Yay!
