Tennessee Gun Report

I’ve been super busy this week so this edition of the Gun Report isn’t as well-sourced as usual. Still, no accidental shootings! Yay! Just the usual gun cray. Enjoy.

• May 5, 2014:

1- A responsible gun owner responsibly forgot his gun was in his carry-on bag at the Chattanooga airport.

2- A Rogersville man fired his gun at his wife and three children during an alcohol-fueled domestic dispute.

• May 3, 2014:

1- A 30-year-old Knoxville man started waving a 2×4 waving a gun near I-40, had apparently randomly fired shots, before launching a day-long standoff that closed I-40 before he finally surrendered and was arrested. Ta da.

2- A UT student was arrested after firing shots at a bus.

  1. I think that alcohol fueled is the wrong term, more likely alcohol enhanced, the rage was there all along. There’s some asshat Congressman, John Fleming (ignoramus–Loozyanna) who says:

““Look at the downstream cost to society when you have, as in the case of the VA, all of these veterans who are going to have lung cancer, emphysema, brain damage, heart disease as a result of that so what we’re doing really is putting money in the pockets of some very greedy people out there who are taking advantage of this.”*

Is a shitton of lies and even if the assertions were fact based the folks gettin’ rich offa BigMed, BigPharma and BigThat’snotcoveredbyyourplan are the ones makin’ the money. The VA has something like 6 million people that they currently care for with an additional 15 or so million eligible at some level.

    Oh, btw:

“His book, Preventing Addiction: What Parents Must Know to Immunize Their Kids Against Drug And Alcohol Addiction was published in2006.”**

And, yes he is a doctor so he knows full well that he’s lying.

Sorry for the side rant, as you were.

I can help you pad your results, but these aren’t from
    Tennessee:

This one, from Augusta, GA, had not only Paine College but both campuses of Georgia Regents University on lockdown: http://chronicle.augusta.com/news/crime-courts/2014-05-06/3-shootings-near-paine-campus-might-be-linked?v=1399473587

This one happened in Minnesota, but was shared with me by a young friend. Her aunt is the woman who was wounded, and who lost her boyfriend to gunshots from a clearly deranged man who, nonetheless, had a gun AND USED IT: http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2014/05/07/woman-shot-in-deadly-new-brighton-feud-speaks-out/
