Yeah, it’s been a crazy week. I could sure use some good news, what about you? As always, for more good news check out Bouphonia’s Friday Hope Blogging.
• The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver has reinstated the “roadless rule,” protecting some 50 million acres of National Forest lands from logging and road-building.
• Same-sex marriage is expected to be legalized in Denmark next year:
According to the Copenhagen Post, the government plans to introduce a bill after the New Year that would allow same-sex couples, who are currently entitled to the civil status of “registered partnerships,” to hold weddings in the Church of Denmark and be considered “married” under the law.
Just a memo to those folks who don’t think this is good news: if you don’t want your churches forced by law into performing same-sex marriages, then by all means please stop telling everyone we’re a Christian nation and that separation of church and state is a secular-liberal myth. That is why we in this country have a civil (legal) union, i.e. go to the courthouse and get married, and a marriage sanctioned by a religious body, i.e. performed in a church or other house of worship. As I wrote waaaay back in 2009, all of those liberal/Socialist Scandinavian countries have a state church. If you want to protect religious freedom from creeping secularism, the very last thing you want to do is make your religion part of the state. Separation of church and state protects the church from government influence, not the other way around.
We used to understand that in this country.
• Speaking of religion, the Pope seeks repentance for the church’s use of violence throughout its history, which he called “an abuse of the Christian faith, one that evidently contradicts its true nature.”
• Nissan is launching a plug-in electric hybrid in 2015. This is good news because it’s advancing our move away from oil in the transportation sector, and also Nissan is manufacturing its EV batteries and cars right here in Smyrna, Tennessee. Green jobs, people.
• Here’s a local feel-good story that warmed my heart. A recently widowed 73-year-old man was reunited with his missing Jack Russell terrier, Petie. The dog had been missing for three months and was found 600 miles away outside Detroit. Volunteers made the 9-hour trip to Tennessee to reunite Petie with his owner.
People, if the video at the link doesn’t choke you up, I don’t know what will. Petie’s tail is about to fall off his butt he’s wagging it so hard, and you can just see owner Jim Arrighi struggling to hold it together.
Until next week ….
That is a great story about the owner reunited with his dog.
Good News Overnight. You prolly already know this SB but it’s about 2:30 am and the Occupy Protestors detained tonight have been released WITHOUT WARRANTS BEING ISSUED. First, No Probable Cause. Second, General Services Admin, in charge or public spaces, prohibited by state law from setting curfews. I watched all this from Occupy Live Stream up on the Highland Rim. GREAT JOB OCCUPY MEDIA TEAM. Hope to get down this weekend.
Addendum: I’m sure when the ruling is published my version will be found wanting. Sorry but I would never intentionally mislead anyone. I’m not an attorney. Watching the vid in real time was very uplifting and I just wanted to get something down.

Sure thing, Benny, just as soon as you sell off the artwork & real estate, all of your own funny shoes, hats and dresses–all paid for with the sweat, blood and lives of the those conquered in the name of JESUS–and move into a one bedroom apartment. IOW, nahgonnahappen.
