GOP: Still Classy

This morning RNC head Reince Priebus compared President Obama to the captain of the doomed Italian cruise ship Costa Concordia:

“In a few months, this is all going to be ancient history and we’re going to talk about our own little Captain Schettino, which is President Obama who’s abandoning the ship here in the United States and is more interested in campaigning than doing his job as president,” Priebus said on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

Priebus added the president is “fleeing the American people,” just like Schettino allegedly fled his cruise liner.

WTF? You know, considering how Republican obstructionism has ground Congress to a halt for the past year, who exactly is abandoning ship here? Plus, you want to talk about campaigning, when was the last time Michelle Bachmann was in Washington for a vote?

God, I hate campaign season.

  1. Saw that interview. Funny how Bob Schieffer couldn’t get Gingrich or Bachman or Priebus to say Romney’s “patent dishonesty” was a character flaw.

It’ll get worse before it gets better.

  2. OH, shoot, name-calling is their sarcastic back up plan when their campaign lies don’t cut it. I note that he does not predict which of the remaining standard bearers of the far right wing kooks will win their picking the least of the losers. Romney has lost before, Paul has lost twice before, and Gingrich was told to resign or be run out of office and out of town. And Santorum is about to quit.
And the truth hurts sooooo damned bad…economy coming back, Recovery Act helping thousands with medical costs, Barack keeping his promises, and so much more…and just in case he hasn’t looked lately, our Ship of State is doing just fine.

“Preibus stated, “Under [President Barack Obama], he’s promised millions and millions of jobs. We’ve lost 26 million jobs.. The non-partisan watchdog group PolitiFact rated the 26 million job figure as ‘Pants On Fire’. He later clarified that he meant 2.6 million jobs were lost, not 26 million.” He is either poor at math or a liar.

I believe misplacing a decimal point falls under the heading “Plausible Deniability.”

You’d think that the party of “We gotta invade Iraq becuz of Saddam’s nookyuler weapons” would have the sense of shame not to call names regarding screwups that get people killed. But then they wouldn’t be Republicans.
