Congratulations, Ohio Farmer! You Are Our 2nd Amendment Hero Du Jour

An Ohio farmer shot and killed a 22-year-old woman (who was out target shooting, believe it or not) because he mistook her for a groundhog:

Stark County Sheriff George Maier says Natasha Stover was shooting targets Monday with a BB gun when she laid down in the grass. Farmer Ralph Adams Jr., 79, thought she was a groundhog and fired a rifle about 165 feet away, hitting Stover in the head.

And she loved animals. And a 79-year-old man shot her because he thought she was one.

So much irony here.

I just have no words.

  1. Oh, man ! Damn ! * pardon me *

Witnesses reported the farmer saying, “Oh, shoot!” when he learned he hadn’t killed the groundhog.

  3. At best it goes down as an accident. At the very least this guy should never be allowed to own a gun, of any kind, ever.

    • He’s 79-years-old. You know, we have no qualms about taking mom or dad’s car keys away from them when it becomes clear they are a road hazard. I’m pretty sure we need to be taking their guns away, too. It just makes sense.

But I forgot, common sense is not allowed in conversations about guns.

  4. While we’re on the subject. The gunzloonz are fond of trotting out the “Gunz is a right, driving is a privilege and not a amendment things, so, JESUSMurKKKa FREEDUMB!

The first Amendment which one must assume is the most important one–otherwise, why have it first?–has limits and boundaries. When you do something stupid or deliberately contra “free speech” such as libel or slander, well that might bite you right in the ass. So, why not treat the sacred 2nd the same way?

    Crickets.
