Still Not Getting It On The Wealth Thing

I’m having so much fun watching the RWers embrace the whole Clinton-wealth meme, like a kid who found dad’s secret porn stash. It’s hilarious. I mean, watching Chuck Todd and Chris Cillizza on Friday discuss whether Hillary Clinton is “out of touch with mainstream America” because she said they were broke when they left the White House was an exercise in cognitive dissonance.

It’s spawned headlines like this one:

ClintonHeadline

Oh, they just wish! They wish! I love it when the beltway elites start discussing “real America” and the wealth issue. Nothing shows how out of touch they are than this conversation. They truly do not get it.

What tripped up Mitt Romney was not his wealth. America didn’t dislike Mitt Romney because he’s rich — a poor person is not going to run for president of the United States. The problem was his attitude about his wealth. The problem was the perception that the Romneys felt they were better than everyone else because of their wealth. That their wealth somehow entitled them to lead the country. And that everyone else is just lazy “takers” who don’t work hard, who are not deserving of things like unemployment insurance and food stamps. That the Romenys deserve their handouts but the rest of us do not.

That’s what those guys don’t get. The Clintons don’t give off that attitude. That’s what the wealth issue is about. It’s the “makers and takers” attitude so pervasive among rich Republicans.

So keep talking, Republicans.

The current state of the “Mainstream Media”:

Vapid. “offering nothing that is stimulating or challenging.”

synonyms: insipid, uninspired, colorless, uninteresting, feeble, flat, dull, boring, tedious, tired, unexciting, uninspiring, unimaginative, uninvolving, lifeless, tame, vacuous, bland, trite, jejune.

    • Hmmm, “lyin’ fuckbag” is my favorite synonym for MSM “journalists”.

    • Kathleen

Hamlet described them best: “It appears no other thing to me than a foul and pestilent congregation of vapours”.

“jejune”. Now, there’s a word you don’t see in everyday conversation anymore, even among academics. Thanks for the trip down memory land, to that long ago time when using a dictionary was an expectation, not an effort to get extra credit. I’m sorry, I’ve been at home too long.🙂

Somebody told me the other day that the Clinton’s are, like, billionaires! I told them that the number I saw on various web sources was in the $20M range. Shrubya’s is around $35M and the Dickcheney’s estimated to be about $90M by this source (http://www.richestcelebrities.net/dick-cheney-net-worth/).

I have no doubt that Hilary enjoys the perqs and privileges of her position, as did Bill. I also have no doubt that I wouldn’t buy a car from any of them, but I would love to have a conversation with Bill on virtually any subject; Hilary,. a few subjects–the others, fuck em’.

    • I’m trying to think what would happen if Democrats nominated an hourly Cracker Barrel employee for political office. We’d get, “Oh they can’t be qualified, they never did anything better with their lives than work at Cracker Barrel.” I mean, remembering when Obama was running and Sarah Palin and the rest talking about how he was “just a community organizer” and had “never run a business,” etc etc then seeing them attacking the Clintons for having money? I’m sorry but what fresh hypocrisy is this?

    Hey DC…You broke the Internet.

“You are seeing web results for lyin fuckbag because there’s not a match on Thesaurus.com.”

  4. I’m only sooprized that Capitalist Jimbo hasn’t come in here to defend Hilary. Hell, they’re both rich people who work hard for every penny they get!

Hillary and Bill should feel free to earn as much money as anyone is willing to give them. Nobody in the Republican party has stated otherwise. The funny thing was Hillary trying to look like she was one with the “common man” by saying they were broke. What a load of shit.

“The Clintons don’t give off that attitude. That’s what the wealth issue is about. It’s the “makers and takers” attitude so pervasive among rich Republicans.” The “wealth issue” is about attitude? So you don’t expect all of the rich people to be taxed at a much higher rate – just those that have a bad attitude? You don’t care about the liberals that use the same tax loopholes to avoid paying “their fair share” as conservatives that do? You don’t care when someone like Hillary tells just a blatant lie and then follows up with another stupid saying right after it?

      • Hillary never said they were broke. She said when they left the White House they were in debt. And no one has disproved that in all of this manufactured outrage.

“So you don’t expect all of the rich people to be taxed at a much higher rate – just those that have a bad attitude?”

That’s a complete misreading of what I said. Where did I say the Clintons should be exempted from paying higher taxes because they have a good attitude? You’re a fucking moron, Jim. Go fuck yourself. Twice. Get the fuck off my blog you asswipe douchenozzle.

Sorry to keep you waiting again DC – I know how much you look forward to my wisdom on topics. We were college touring with my oldest kid. Again sorry for making you wait.

      • “Sorry to keep you waiting again DC – I know how much you look forward to my wisdom on topics.”

Oh, golly, Jimmykins, you got it soooooooooo wrong. No, I’m just mildly surprised when the class war bell doesn’t bring you here on the run.

“We were college touring with my oldest kid.”

Geez, let me guess, Lynchburg, VA?

      • Jim in Memphis

Never been to Lynchburg, VA – what college is located there?

  5. Oh, noes, Jimbo, you can connect the dots.

Well I found these – Central Virginia Community College, Liberty University, Lynchburg College, Randolph College, Sweet Briar College, and Virginia University of Lynchburg.

I assume you meant Liberty University, but no we will not be looking there.
