Congratulations, Unnamed Ohio Man! You Are Our 2nd Amendment Hero Du Jour

From the annals of safest, most responsible EVAH:

DAYTON — A man said he accidentally shot himself in the leg while driving, and hospital staff said his injury could be life-threatening, according to a police report.

The man kept driving his SUV onto a Dayton fire station to get help, and was taken to Miami Valley Hospital. According to the report, he went directly into surgery.

The man told emergency workers at the South Smithville Road fire station that he had been driving when his gun fell onto the floorboard. He said when he picked the weapon up, it fired and hit him in the thigh, the report states.

According to police, he does have a CCW and it appears the shooting was accidental.

Ta da!

well, thank the FSM we don’t have any irresponsible gun owners out there.

“According to police, he does have a CCW and it appears the shooting was accidental.” And his injuries were still life threatening! I blame Obma.

Have we had someone shoot their own reflection in the mirror in the near-dark because the other guy had a gun yet, akin to a cat hissing at the cat in the mirror?

  4. Beale: I assume you’ll pick up the 12-year old in Newark yesterday. But it would be nice to have a special e-mail for ‘2nd Amendment heroes.’ With an alert audience you probably could find one a day — and then next year put up a calendar of ‘Yesterday’s Heroes: Defending their 2ns Amendment Rights, no matter who gets hurt!”

I could imagine a gun control group — maybe Mark Kelly’s — would back you on this or take it over. There could be ‘Quotes of the Week’ from our favorite gun loons — which wouldn’t have to be tied to the dates. And stats of the week.

Hmm, if there was a good cartoonist around — and whoever did it would take the risk — maybe call it 2nd Amendment Saints with suitable illustrations.

    • Don’t know necessarily about the Newark boy. Saw that a PA kid shot himself in an SUV. And an Oklahoma kid who was out hunting tripped and fell with a gun in his hand and shot his brother in the back.

      • The Newark one Is worth it, with the boy shooting and killing his 9 yr old sister while his mother was in the shower — he found her boy friend’s gun.

Then, in checking that out I found a story on an MTA officer who shot his 3 yr old — fortunately not fatally — last Tuesday on Long Island. There really ARE more than one a day of these.
