Congratulations Steven Franklin! You’re Our 2nd Amendment Hero Du Jour

Another of our safest, most responsible citizens evah strikes again:

COVINGTON, KENTUCKY (FOX19) – A man accidentally shot himself when he sat down with a gun in his pocket Sunday, according to Covington Police.

Police found Steven Franklin, 18, suffering from a gunshot wound when they responded to the 1800 block of Eastern Avenue around 7:30 p.m.

He was transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

After an investigation, officials determined the shooting to be accidental.

“Evidence suggests that the victim was carrying a loaded .22 revolver in his pocket that discharged when he sat down,” read a Covington Police statement released on Monday.

Totally unavoidable!

Keep an eye on the local news. A bunch of “patriots” in Mount Juliet are going to stand around outside the local recruiting station (beside Walmart) and ‘protect’ the Marines today. There’s bound to be an accident.

  2. It’s a small step in the right direction, and ‘too broad a brush,’ maybe bur Obama is bringing the same rules to SC that already apply to the VA as far as background checks for people unable to manage themselves.

There are some complaints from activists and advocates for the disabled and mentally challenged — and some justice in them. (I’ve always been wary of the ‘easy fix’ of background checks for psychiatric problems. It is simply too damn hard to define which of them are dangerous — while racism, gullibility, FOXaddiction and certain beliefs of certain types of ‘Christian’ extremists would never be caught.

But this is, overall, a step in the right direction. Cheers for our President — but where was this courage, boldness, and clarity that he has shown as a lame duck during his first six years.

I’m not the hugest fan of the President. Otoh, he, like Bill Clinton has had his own party shaft him on a number of issues. The things he’s been doing of late are, prolly like everything else he does, calculated to get the most bang for the buck and do the least damage to both him and whoever winds up winHILLARYning the Democratic nomination.
