Congratulations, Unidentified TX Man! You’re Our 2nd Amendment Hero Du Jour

One of what I am guessing to be our safest, most responsible citizens EVAH who knows one must always be in Condition White or be a parasite on society was pumping gas on Saturday night when a carjacking occurred. Being a good guy with a gun, he immediately intervened and opened fire on the attackers, when the utterly predictable happened:

When the assailants attempted to take his truck, a witness parked at the gas pump started shooting at the men, according to authorities.

Police said he accidentally shot the victim in the head.

Slow clap. Thanks for playing! Next time let them have the goddamn car. It’s easier to get a new car than a new brain.

  1. The truck owner is in stable condition! Whaddaya want? He gets his truck back just as soon as he can drive.

  2. The weirdest part of the story is that the shooter picked up his cartridge casings — which, of course, would have given the ballistics people a chance to identify the gun. Which opens up all sorts of possibilities. (I AM a life-long detective story fan, after all.)

It looks like the story has changed in a mere two hours to the victim being hit on the head and not shot, though I suppose it could be an attempt to convince the guy to come in to talk so they can lay hands on him.
It does seem unusual for the permit holder to not come back to make a report. Seems more like someone who was perhaps carrying illegally. Though I guess we’ll have to wait and see how it plays out.
    Time will tell.

“A man said he was hit on the head near a bus station on the edge of the parking lot. A witness saw what happened and as two suspects got in the man’s truck to escape, the witness pulled out a gun and shot at the departing truck.”
