WTF Ron Ramsey

Tennesee Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey just posted this on his Facebook page. It’s positively chilling:

Holy holy war, Batman! What the hell is wrong with this man? “It’s time to prepare”? “Our enemies are armed. We must do likewise”? Are you fucking insane? How’s that been working for us, buddy? Everyone is already armed to the teeth! Amazingly, we’ve had more mass shootings! More, not fewer! What’s that they say about insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results?

This is some irresponsible BS. Shame. On. You. SHAME. ON. YOU.

Oregon is one of 7 states allowing CCW holders to carry on campus. And apparently there were at least two CCW holders on campus when the shooting happened. They opted not to intervene, out of fear they’d become targets themselves. This was, by the way, absolutely the right call: most of the time, the “good guy with a gun” ends up either getting in the way of law enforcement, getting shot, or hurting an innocent bystander. I just point it out by way of illustrating to Ron Ramsey and the rest of the gun loons that arming all the “good guys” clearly isn’t working. We’ve been doing that for over a decade now and all we have to show for it is more gun violence, more shootings, and a rise in the murder rate.

  1. Up until about 60 seconds before he opened fire, this kid in Oregon was one of the good guys. At least as good as gov. Ramsey. Are the people really going to let clones of the vapid wanker get way with the “meditative approach”. What we need is an general announcement that forbids personal carry. And then massive arrests with heavy fines.

  2. I’ve been thinking about you and this crusade, SoBe.

I think that there is an incremental process taking place here, where, for example, an enlightened citizen like youself have now been sufficiently motivated to call out B.S. like this in a public forum. Clearly America hasn’t hit critical mass yet, but it is coming. At least I believe.

On another note, it did occurred to me that in the vein of the Constitution and the NRA, it may very well be that the drug cartel people should employ lawyers and P.R. mooks. They may be able to massage some public acceptance if the realized the “Life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness” can be reworked (spun) so that ‘pursuit of happiness’ specifically refers to recreational pharmaceutical like crystal meth. Like this, it’s blantantly obvious that the cocaine cartels et al have been ruthlessly discriminated against! The outrage!

Wait, so those children massacred at Sandy Hook were somehow identifiably Christian and/or “defenders of the West?”

  4. I’m going to buy a vest.

I just read where at least one eyewitness stated he/she never heard the gunman speak.

    • Interesting. Latest reports say he asked “some” people if they were Christians.

I read that too, but can’t remember where. It was a news source, not the blogosphere (no offense meant).

As for those “serious about their faith”, my former boss, who is a big Ben Carson supporter, posted the following this afternoon:

“I changed my profile picture in honor of the victims and their families in Oregon. ‪#‎IamAChristian‬” That was it, her profile picture, a square that says I Am A Christian. Holy Non Sequitur, Batman!

I have a hard time even reading this shit anymore. “Aggressive Secularism” will probably become a meme. I mean forgive the elitism but people that buy into that kind of screed are fucking crazy.

  7. If you don’t believe people have a right to defend themselves that’s your business but telling serious Christians who are being targeted they can’t is not your call to make. Jesus said to pick up a sword and God throws evil people in a pit of fire to endure eternal suffering. I am a Christian and I will remain armed period.

    • I understand the appeal of the Christian Persecution Complex, it’s part of the New Testament narrative after all and modern evangelicals seem eager to martyr themselves in all sorts of bizarre ways, Kim Davis being just the latest example. What I don’t understand is this bullshit argument about guns, when Jesus was a pacifist. Look, if you want to believe this guy targeted Christians, fine. So he was a Christian hater–a Christian hater WITH A GUN. It’s that last bit which made all the difference.

      • The “martyr” thing means, for KKKRISTIQNIST asswipes, never having to die for their beliefs.

Travis, buddy, suck it pal, just suck it. Your JESUS, according to the Wholly Babble, died, instead of calling on his SKYDADDY’S Legions–O–Doom, to smite his persecutors.

Please provide me with a guide to serious Christianity so that I may improve my powers of discernment. Thank You. In the mean time I’m gonna go read that story about Jesus reattaching the ear of the Roman soldier again that was obviously slipped into scripture by a leftist.

      • LOL. I love how the fundiegelical wing of Christianity always assumes they are also the ONLY wing of Christianity. Which makes the hundreds of different denominations and non-denominational churches a little difficult to explain but hey … wouldn’t be the first time these folks ignored the inconvenient facts! I’ve said all along, those folks who want to post the 10 Commandments everywhere need to first agree on which version. And those folks who want to teach the Biblical Creation story in schools need to first agree on which one (there are 3 in the Bible, after all).

““But I say to you, do not resist him who is evil; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.” Matthew 5:39

      Nice cherry-pickin’, buddy.

  8. If Ron Ramsey is a ‘true christian’, I want to meet his pastor, preacher, or minister. And I want to ask him WHERE IN THE christian Bible it says: ” take up arms against your neighbor, walk around with your gun strapped to your body so ‘they will know’ you are just a gun nut”. Ramsey is a WELL PAID stooge of the GUN MAKERS in this country. There are thousands of guns made and SOLD in AMERIKA every day, including in Nashville. And there is little we sane human beings can do since our majority in the Legislature is also getting rich off this promotion of fear and hate..
