Separated At Birth?

"Dr." Marcus Bachmann

Liberace

I’m sure it’s no surprise that Truth Wins Out has gone undercover at Bachmann’s Christian counseling center and learned the clinic, which receives state and federal funds, peddles in discredited “pray away the gay” crap:

And no, relative to the question asked earlier, Becker was never presented with an informed consent form to participate. Nor was he in any way briefed that the “therapy” route he was embarking upon is scientifically discredited, futile and potentially dangerous.

As observed, “Dr.” Bachmann’s practice fails to meet even the ethical standards set by the American Association of Christian Counselors, let alone the much higher bar of more stringent professional organizations like the American Psychological Association.

It figures that Mrs Bachmann would have a twisted, demented bag of rancid psychoses like this guy for a husband.

Naw, don’t want to see them as separated at birth. Liberace was honest about who he was and at a time in the entertainment world that it could have gotten him blackballed and unable to work at all. Flamboyant as could be, he was a very good pianist and an entertainer. Whether you like(d) or not, you have got to respect how he lived who he was.

“Dr.” Bachmann on the other hand… not so much.

  3. My dad watched Lawrence Welk,. Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Red Skelton AND Liberace. Once he said, “There’s no way he’s a queer!”. I stifled my laugh, as it would have caused a serious blowout on his part.

Once when he was sitting on Johnny Carson’s couch, Liberace was talking about how much was required to get himself ready for a show. The heavy costumes, the hair, the make-up, a close shave. Johnny asked him if he ever cut himself shaving and Lee said, “Oh, yes; and the cuts on my legs bleed and bleed!”. He was campy and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over the top. He was also a great pianist and a fabulous entertainer.

Marcus Bachman is something less than a douchebag.

  4. Liberace was far from honest about who he was. He was famous for suing — and winning — any newspaper that even alluded to him being gay. He actively denied his sexuality, and even had several famous celebrity beards. I do believe he denied being gay until the day he died.

But yes, terribly campy and over the top and talented.

Liberace’s sense of humor cannot go unnoted. When asked how negative critical response affected him, he responded, “I cried all the way to the bank”.

Can’t say for Mr. Bachmann (who looks like the lost love child of Peter Ustinov and Benny Hill) but Mrs. Bachman had a major speech months ago about US debt being held by China, mentioned the Chinese president’s name, and couldn’t work in this couplet:

    “Hu gets the money?”
    “Every penny of it!”

Such humor impairment bodes poorly for a presidential candidate.

  6. Yeah I think the “crying all the way to the bank” crack came after one of his libel suits.

I stand corrected, although I think that his “public” stance fooled nobody, including a kid (me) who knew he was gayer than the Gay 90’s by the time I was 9 yo.

Well, we’ll always have Rob Halford!
